Francè,

A stunningly attractive vase of European Yew, and I'd hazard a guess that if most of us tried to turn this piece of timber with inclusions as big as these, we'd have a pile of firewood.

You don't give any dimensions or finish details though.

Stunning piece, love it :cool::2tsup:

It always amazes me how these type of pieces hold together, I assume a heap of tape whilst hollowing was applied. Even with tape it would take just one catch and ping, firewood :doh:, more than likely if I was turning it :rolleyes:

Hi dai sensei .. to these pieces use usually DOMOPACK, transparent film for food ; light hand and finish 3-4 cm at a time ... although here we are now in winter .. sweat does not fail .. :U
many thanks for your comments .. :)

I dont see much Yew European or otherwise. :C Love the colour,shape and finish, the voids really add to it immensely. All in all a fine piece, well done:2tsup:

Hughie,

You probably know this, but just in case (and for everybody else).

Yew is a (cell structure) softwood, and one I often compare to your Dead Finish on colour and grain.
