I'm not going to lie, you had lost me when I saw the nice figure of the Silky Oak painted gold but seeing the finished piece has brought me back around :)

I like it :2tsup:

Years ago an experienced turner/furniture maker told me that So was not good for turning - too much grain and tearout. He was wrong.

Silkyoak is my favourite furniture timber and we have a number of pieces in our home, and I have turned some of it with the success you would expect from an inexperienced turner. I like it for turning.

As for colour, I like it the colour it is and don't stain. So when I saw the gold on this example I was put off, but that is just me. The whole piece looks better and the photos probably do not do it justice. Eyeballing it on display would allow the work of art to show to the best advantage.

HYN to all.

I like it. I think the colour suits the timber colour and texture. :2tsup: Drillit.

I like it too and I agree that seeing it in person would be more impressive.

Colour to acccent some part of turning can either be so wrong or it brings it from ordinary to spectacular. IMO you have got it right and it looks spectacular. :2tsup:

As a lover and producer of coloured work I like this, a lot.

If I may, the colour could have been defined better if you had added a cut line between the bowl and rim and another at the rim edge.

Another thought, the 3 feet, if one was shortened so that the whole thing tipped towards the viewer slightly, it would have a more interesting appearance.

But well done, very well done. :2tsup:
