Design for simple wooden latch for jewellery box

Hi guys

Does anybody know where I can get details for a hand-made wooden latch or lock(not a padlock type) for a jewellery box? My son is making an upright jewellery box with 2 hinged doors for his HSC. The doors will have wooden hinges, courtesy of plans & instructions from Roger Gifkins web site. He wants to make the latch from wood because, well after all, it's for his Wood Tech subject. As well, it "wood" look good too. In one of Tony Lydgate's excellent books, he saw a lock with a wooden lever style key that enters the lock from the side, but unfortunately, the photo shows only the outside and there are no details of the inside. Have done numerous searches on Google and this forum but without success. Any help "wood" be greatly appreciated, thanks.
