I am seeking information or a source of information on grinder wheel formulation and what metals suit certain wheels.
I know aluminium oxide is suposed to be good for HSS & high carbon steels & silicon carbide for mild steel but I'm looking for some real detail.
cheers

G'day Soundie.
Mate, have a yarn to Ian Watkins at ATS (advanced Timber Systems)
He is at Darra in Brisvegas.
He is in the book.
Ian has all that kind of info at his finger tips.

Hooroo.

Attached is a photo of a chart of grinding wheel grades and examples of use. If it isn't legible, let me know and I can email you a high res version.

Text books on fitting and machining would be a good source for this sort of info

Hope this helps

John

ps In case anyone is wondering, there did not seem to be any copyright on the publication this info came from.
