Hi all,

Have been a bit quiet of late as far as producing anything worthwhile off the lathe, however thought I would post a few pictures of a small box I made for a young lady at work who will be turning 21 soon.

The body and lid are made from one piece of Camphor Laurel and the foot and finial are made from Burdekin Plumb all sanded to 1200 grit with 3 coats of lacquer.

The design was based off one of Cindy Drozda's boxes.
All comments welcome, thanks for looking.

Cheers,

Beautiful piece :2tsup:. Really nice dark bit of Burdekin Plum too

Are the edges burnt or stained?

ps I am in Rocky at the moment, PM me if you want to catch up, I'm also interested in what clubs are around here

What a beautiful creation - well done. I cannot even begin to imagine how this was made, but it is magnificent :2tsup::2tsup:

Nice one Nev :2tsup:

Gotta ask how you managed to get a grain match when the lid is below the lip

Thanks Vern,

I think it was by good luck rather than good management.

Quite an interesting box. At the moment I am still thinking of how you made this match so nicely.
