I was finally able to contact the seller.
The lathe was his Mum's, who was in the WA wood turners. I don't think I know her, but the name rang a bell
The owner had an interested party, then a school offered to buy it. As his mum used to be a teacher, the seller thought it more appropriate that schoolkids get the benefit, so off it went to a school.
I think a wonderful idea and it sure will last a long time and maybe inspire a few kids to take up wood turning
