I have decided to have a go at making my own replaceable Tip tool, so far so good. To this point it has cost $5.30
I was changing the cutters on the spindle moulder at work and it has 4 , 13mm square bits for getting into the corners of rebates. So a quick chat to foreman and I can take old ones.
off to metal yard and bought 500 mm of round bar then a stop at bolt shop.
Final stop at my tame metal workers shop
This is the end result, just need to turn a handle and a sharpen with a test run
thanks for looking.

Chuck, for the swan neck tools, I though that the cutting bit was in line with the shaft, otherwise control of the cut is difficult.http://www.woodworkforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=339944&stc=1http://www.woodworkforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=339943&stc=1

Hi charlie,
Good job on the tool mate, make a handle
and away you go ,, all for under $10.00
It will be interesting to see how it drives!
Pat, I have to ask......why do you have golf balls on your lathe ?

Smiife, to protect me against the Steb drives & centres, they are blessedly sharp!:;

I agree with Pat. To say control is difficult is an understatement, I would say a catch waiting to happen.

Should of asked more questions first! It's a learning curve, any other Tip would be handy.
They are serious puns! Thanks guys.

At least it is too long and a relatively easy fix, cut off/grind flat/redrill & tap etc :U. While your modifying, use a round TC bit rather than square, much better for hollowing

In the process of making a new one. Taking note of advice above about alignment.
Thanks guys!

Could you stick the old ones tip in a vise and ease the curve out of it to line up as it should?
