Hi folks,

My first bowl ended up with some regrettable toolmarks, so decided to try a second go at the same sort of thing last night... And what do you know, practice really does improve things:

They're both about 15cm across the top rim - size determined by the blank more than any planning or design. Need to work out what they are useful for at that size...

Thanks guys!

Very nice - You can use them for peanuts and lollies at parties

Ahah - that's about right, I'll fill 'em up with nuts and put a nutcracker nearby!

Re-turning is always good. Some of my best work comes out of stuff I made earlier :)

Well done!
What timber and what finish?
Love the luster you created.

The second attempt nicer. Well done for not giving up and giving it another go.

Just don't get hung up if things don't work out first go.

Yeah, I am pretty happy with the last one - was planning to gift it to someone, but it's nice enough I kind of want to keep it!

The first is maple silkwood, the second spurwood. Both sanded to 600, then EEE and shellawax. The spurwood in particular feels lovely in the hand after that.
