Helped a friend out by turning some posts. Fairly basic pattern and the sample ball was not really a ball. I copied it the best I could.

yes just a pencil gauge to mark high and low points. Roughing gouge, detail gouge and a skew chisel
Head down and turn turn turn!

Have not done any oroduction runs like that. Id be very pleased to turn up with such consistent work

Thankyou Dave. Lots of pratice has got me to where I am. 5 days a week Times 4 plus years, that was starting in 1992 .
then turning on and off till now.I have not lost tool control just speed.
