Evanism's post had me digging back through photos. Back in 2008 I had an idea to make a display tree for spin tops as a competition entry. Piece required multiple items with multiple holes drilled at the same angle to the spindle axis in each piece. After a bit of head scratching I came up with this ...

I did something similar with one of those drill presses that you put a regular drill in. Yours looks much more robust.

Now I will have to go look for evanisms post to see what you are talking about.

Edit. Not sure which of his posts prompted your post but like this one anyway

Interesting ... about the same time as you made your tree I also made one to display turned fruit. Mine was just a branch lol

I have a primitive one that uses doweling jig bushes and locks in toolrest then just use hand drill.
it's been handy to have. I really like your set-up.

Ooer! Luxury! When I was a boy I used to live in brown paper bag in middle o'..... :D

My method is similar... sorta... but a lot rougher. Basically, I just drill a hole in a 2"(ish) thick off-cut and clamp that in an appropriate position. Then use it as a guide for either a hand- or hand-held electric drill.

Using good ol' marking tape as a depth gauge, of course!
