Have had my DVR XP for 5 odd years. Very happy except for the horrible little control panel.
Found 2 articles about adding an external switch box. One by Duncan Hoyle and the other on Woodcentral by Lastole.
Made up all the connections and the designated switches were doing the wrong actions. A bit of wire swapping and all works well.
Magnets on the box allow it to be positioned along the bed.
Was not able to get a raised button red switch but will keep looking as it would be easier to bump it off.

Hi phil,
Very neat job with the controls, I always think that the control
switches should be on the right, (if you are right handed)
Not familiar with where the switches are on a nova but
It looks like an improvement, well done:2tsup:

Phil,

thanks for the post. Would you mind posting the Internet links for those two articles that you found. I'd like to see if they'll also work with my older Nova 3000 DVR.

Thanks,

RoyG

Smiife, the original controls are on the left. Right where you have to lean over the workpiece. Much easier now.

Roy, the original docs were based on the 3000. Maybe that is why my switches were a bit mixed up.

Here is a Stop Switch, there are others cheaper from Hong Kong.

Phil,

Was not able to get a raised button red switch but will keep looking as it would be easier to bump it off.

You could turn a nice mushroom and glue it on to the red push button, even paint it red. We can buy these here in the US cheap as dirt:

Very nice job on the box.

Very nice job on the box.
Thanks for the comment and for such a simple idea that is so easy to implement.
