I have been doing some production runs. Which is another story.
I have been left with all the bits from chuckling.
So I had them bagged up for firewood, and thought let's make some spinning tops.
Maximum diameter is 50 mm and a 10mm shaft.
Turn and sand 10mm dowel
glue into offcut
Re Chuck turn and sand
2 coats of shellac.
I'm very pleased to use up some offcuts
thanks for looking

I have a bunch of off cuts from a furniture factory, not big enough to use, too good to throw in the stove.

Now I know what to do with them.

I have started drilling and putting a small "brass" tack on spinning point for durability and better spin.
thankyou guys

On some of my fancier tops I embed a small brass screw as the point. Simply drill the appropriate size hole insert the screw and turn off the head.

I picked up literally tens of boxes of HQ Sidney Cooke slotted cup head brass wood screws for nothing when a retailer was moving premises. They dumped the rest as scrap.

Another item often used on the tip of a spinning top is the domed end of a 'pop' rivet shank pushed into a suitable hole in the tip.

I know how it is when you have some small bits left over.

Great going on the tops.
