It is Marmite(Vegi-mite" moment you either love it or hate it. Well the wife loves it which surprised me.

Another experiment with colour done using ebonising spray and Jo Sonja paints.

This is something totally different for me but I am still playing with colour and texture.

C & C most welcome

Love those colours! Can you give us some more details on the Jo Sonja paints and the techniques you used?

Jo Sonja paints I used are these HERE (http://www.josonjas-ukshop.co.uk/ourshop/cat_797840-Iridesecent-Colours.html) I think I used 5 of the 6 colours for this piece. I first ebonised the piece so I had a nice black surface as I find that is best to show the paints off, I applied the paint with scrunched up newspaper and paint brushes but used them like stencil brushed

Hard to know!
What are we looking at?
You know, what are the dimensions, the timber, is it sculptural or functional etc?

Thank you all.

Just one piece to roughly the same shape as my Surf and Turf (http://www.woodworkforums.com/f8/surf-turf-204566) piece then carved the joints so plenty of hand sanding as well to make sure it all blends where it needs to

It is sculptural but if someone wants to put a few dried flowers into it they can. It is made from Holly which is a plain wood as I would not cover this much on a highly figured or nice grained piece.
It is 7 1/4" tall and 3 1/2" at the widest.

Beautiful Derek, It looks like you've polished a large seed pod of some sorts....the colours, shape and design are something special...well done sir, cheers, Peter

Well it sure is original in design and interesting in its finish.
Almost looks a bit like some sort of seed pod.

I like what you have done. It all works well except I think the top leaves needed more curve in them. They straighten out and halt the lovely curve in the rest of the form.

I like the black interior, just not sure on the exterior but it does grow on you.

I can also see the amount of work you have don't on this piece. :2tsup:

Thank you all, I enjoy experimenting and still have a few ideas to play with.

I must admit I never noticed and totally agree with your observations, it is not until someone points things out do you see it. It is also great that people are prepared to give constructive criticism which I find to be helpful in progressing with my turning.
