Hi, I have made plenty of bowls but never one from a burl. Is the process, in relation to speeds, sharpening etc any different to that used for regular timber?

thanks,

Steve

Hi rod,
I think the original blank was about 460mm x 460mm x300mm deep
By the time I chop off the edges and turned It round , I think it ended
up about 360mm round and 200mm deep, finish was D.O. and NC
lacquer

Hi steve,
No not really , just a lot harder , a bit more sharpening needed
This burl was not very stable , lots of cracks , rot and holes,
There Is another thread I started awhile ago of the starting off
process, If you are interested , I don, t know how to link it , sorry!

Sort of the same thing but when using the tablet you are using your fingers to do the copy and paste. And having two pages open at the same time to bounce between them is a little slower. Ok a lot slower.
