I make an individual knife blocks to go with a good knife that is given as a gift for special occasions.

Here is one of my designs; turned offset, the blade slot is then cut on bandsaw and an Ebony trim added to close off the back of the sawn slot. The wood is Buloke.

I've also done variations of this, like three sided, with one side narrower than the other two. Some just have a single Ebony peg across the back of the open slot to hold the blade in place.

There must be endless variations. Does anyone else have a design of theirs that they would like to share?

Similar theme. I made this one, and the knife handles, some years ago ..

Thanks Col and Derek for sharing those inspiring pieces.

Some beautiful WA wood and craftsmanship there.

Come on eastern states, what have you got?

Don't be too bloody cheeky, Neil. You guys in the West are 3 hours behind the rest of us on the East Coast. In the last couple of weeks, I've had Guilio Marcolongo and Ken Wraight in my shed. I also add that Jim McC. (from the north of the East Coast) has won the last two AWTEX coms.

Tongue in cheek, Jeff
