These two bits of camphor laurel were a bit small and uninspiring, but I reckoned they were worth a try before cremation. The first one was the outer slice taken from a log, not much timber so a natural edge bowl seemed like a good idea. It turned out not too bad but very plain, so I added a motif for fun.

About 225mm long, 175wide and 60mm deep.

This one also looked a bit plain so I fitted an inlaid veneer banding.

This one is 225mm diameter and 80mm deep. Both finished with sanding sealer and two sprayed coats of lacquer.

P.S. Found the glue pot... :-)

Hi Jim,
Good to see others signing their work.
Don't know why, but it is hard to get other Turners to sign.

They both look delightful to me and I love that grain on both. I also like the finish! :2tsup::2tsup:

I have been signing mine for years now. Just a simple 3 initials.

Whats this Jim? Starve a fire and feed a artist :U

I think this is a good reminder to all of us to re-triage the wood pile occasionally
