Hi,

i picked up some camphor laurel at Mt Tamborine Markets recently. It had some really nice grain.

Inscrewd it onto a faceplate and shaped the outside of the bowl but left a piece so I could attach it to a 4 jaw chuck to hollow out the inside.

I finished it with 600 sandpaper, 1500 micromesh, EEE cream and Shellawax GLO.

i haven't made many bowls but I think this turned out quite well.

Tips and comments welcome.

Todd

Hey mate, I'll start by saying that I am by no means an authority on turning and am basically new to the game myself, but one tip I could give is to flue a waste block onto the base of your bowl to turn a tenon on.

This way you don't have to loose all that precious timber creating a tenon, saves time turning one down (the waste block can be smaller than original blank size) and means you can get a deeper bowl from the same blank! !

Great job none the less, and a nice looking finish.

Thanks for sharing
