This is a bowl I turned yesterday arvo for my youtube channel. Being cheap (read. poor), I have to make use of all of my timbers, even the useless stuff like 1000x20x15 edge trimming offcuts that I seem to collect. This bowl was a mix of Tas. Oak, Tas, Blackwood and Vic. Myrtle. It turned out "pretty good". I didn't really plan on turning a bowl from these stick offcut blanks I have. So the alignment of some of the sticks didn't really work correctly. But once the shellawax hits it, I reckon all is forgiven because "nice and shiny" is the most important part :D

Dimensions: 205mm x 66mm high.

Where's the scraper from?

Thanks Pat,
I bought the scraper from Timbecon. It's a crown tools 3/8"/10mm bowl scraper. I can't find the exact product on their website, but it is the little brother to this big fat bad boy
https://www.timbecon.com.au/woodturning/turning-tools/bowl-finishing-scraper

I like it, it didn't flex over the toolrest and dig into my work like my thinner 1/4" side scraper that I have been using does. I need a bigger motor on my lathe so I can test it out properly. As soon as I am approx 80mm away from center, the little 1/2hp motor bogs down, so it is all light cuts from there.

I Iove making stuff from scraps which were destined for the rubbish bin. Always seems like a win.

Kuffy,

Very nice! I like the "crazy quilt" design. I like random strange pattens and the figure found in stumps and crotches. As much as I admire the regular pattern of segmented turnings I don't have it in me to make one.
