Anyone have or can tell me where to get a 3/8" x 7" full threaded hex head bolt?
Or a metric equivalent?
Thanks
Chris

Chris, go to any bolt company or even the evil green shed and buy a short length of all thread and weld a nut on it.
Rgds,

Depends what you need it for but how about a length of allthread and a couple of nuts.

Yes, two nuts is my next best - I don't have a welder.

Whats it for? Allthread is pretty soft. If for a machine application you might want grade 8 or better.

Its to run in an HDPE thread on a jig, so it doesn't need to be tough.

Allthread is often galvanised and this gives a relatively rough surface which might not be compatible with a soft material like HDPE.

Check the surface finish on the allthread and maybe even have a look at SS as an option.

You can get M10 x 150 which is close to 6" from scrooz.

When the entire shaft is threaded it's not called a bolt, it's a set screw. Might help you find what you want.

Two cheap places:
Specialty Fasteners - Home page (http://www.specfast.com.au/)
ACT Nuts & Bolts - ACT Nuts & Bolts (http://www.actnuts.com.au/)

A place that has almost everything:
United Fasteners - Stainless Fasteners, Bolts And Studs, Bolts And Nuts (http://www.unitedfasteners.com.au/) (a 7" x 3/4 in steel - UNF Grade 8 Bolts, High Tensile (http://www.unitedfasteners.com.au/bolts/high-tensile/unf-grade-8-bolts) - Code: UN0025 034700* )

And a place that can get the unfindable:
Allfasteners Australia (http://www.allfasteners.com.au)

Hope these help. Ive found AllFasteners to be unreal in the past.

* the 3/8 goes only to 6" but they do have the 5/8 in 6" - 058800

Thanks Woodpixel, none of those have 7".

We have a place called Porters Industrial up here. I'm sure there would be something similar down your way. A place like that would have a few options for you

Tried Porters - no luck. But thanks for the suggestion.

Metric equivalent (M10) here: Nut and Bolt Shop - Online supplier of nuts, bolts, screws and fasteners (http://nutandboltshop.com.au/page/8/?route=product%2Fsearch&filter_tag=3%2F4)

only up to 150mm - did you see longer?

 can't count... 7" is 175mm, but my brain said it's 125mm

I'm getting the feeling that fully threaded tops out at 6", can't find longer in any catalogue even in M20

That's the most promising lead so far - thanks. But as someone above pointed out, I need a set screw rather than a partly threaded bolt, and their set screws seem to top out at 6". I'll give them a ring to check. What an inventory!
(I note they have a minimum charge of $27.50, presumably to keep amateurs like me away!)

Thanks to everyone who volunteered help. I have ordered a metric via ebay UK.
