Wood turning Survey

Im currently undertaking the associate degree in furniture design at RMIT, Melbourne. And i'm working on a research project concerning wood turning and joinery.

Hi Alexis,

Many forums members would be keen to assist, but usually a survey like this would come with some kind of endorsement from your school or faculty. Your form is full of spelling errors and could do with some more thought, I believe, as it does not make much sense as is - and is not easy to reply to in a meaningful way. The high level of typos and incorrect spellings is usually found only in scam emails, spoofing and phishing etc. Hence My reply is limited to this forum, not to the email address that you have given.

Perhaps your first survey should be more exploratory - to determine more appropriate questions.

For example, some forums members are commercial operators and will have "clients" but may be unable or unwilling to share their commercial-in-confidence details with you. Others, like me, are retired and make items for our own enjoyment and as gifts so "client" does not really apply.

Some forums members actively participate in the challenges of using disposable wooden pallets etc. so are well and truly focussed on recyclable timber. However, others are actively seeking growing trees to fell! Most of depend on affordable timber at reasonable prices, much of which was felled many years ago and has been stored (hoarded) by other woodworkers.

So, if this is a valid inquiry, I would encourage you to do some reading on these forums, ask some questions and talk to your supervisor/lecturers about good survey techniques. The psychology departments in many universities can advise on that too.

I am in the same boat at Xanthorrhoeas (http://www.woodworkforums.com/members/91606-xanthorrhoeas) I would prefer to do a online survey than send answers via my email for my own computer safety. I mainly use timber that I salvage myself as a part time arborist and other bits of timber from a few other arborist friends. My clients are mainly friends and family but I am starting to do a bit more market work and as such I don't ask quite personal details from my clients

I too would prefer an online survey as I dont fancy using my email as if the survey is not above board I will have deal a lot of crap .
