Both look well turned and finished Lance although I prefer the flowing curves of the one on the left. The shorter one looks to have very thin walls, almost like you've painted some wood grain on a glass.

good point, sometimes we (not me damn it!!!) turn so well the wood becomes unwood like because we've done such a fine job. restraint maybe is the key because i think we all agree, its all about the wood/grain.

About 3 mm at the bottom, tapering to a defined edge.

I too like the left one, it reminds me a bit of an Osolnik candle holder.
