I picked this up some time ago along with a few others and to this day dont know what it is, its anybody's guess.
A small natural edge bowl oiled with DO, maybe I will buff it a little when its dry, not sure.

around 150mm or 6" stands about 125mm or 5.5" at its widest

I think that carving on a piece that has the busy edge, and sharp change between darker bottom and light top and the burl figure would make it too busy.

First, GREAT PIECE, I long ago wore out my worship of boring pieces of wood turned on a lathe. Exciting to sand that kind of edge, Huh??

And, it looks like Elm burl, but then I am across the ditch.... So wish there was some way for us to "swap" wood chunks....

keep turning...Swapping is fairly easy as long as no bark, no worms holes I have done it several times. The only downfall is the cost for many its too much.
