Huon pine and Myrtle.
It was intended to be all huon

So had to cut new faces for the draw.
oil finish but not impressed with it.

Hi PTC

I'm not normally a fan of these boxes, but I really like this leaf design bandsawn box. If you're not impressed with it, post it my way! Do you sell them?

Cheers
Dan

Hi PTC,

I think the contrasting timber is a great feature. Not sure what you are after with the finish, but I have just done some clocks and am not thrilled with the burnish oil finish even after wet sanding to 1200 grit - got today some traditional wax neutral colour and a swansdown mop to see if a silky finish can be achieved - just a thought.

Cheers

Wendy ,
the contrast was by accident. but it worked out ok.

I think traditional wax will give a better finish, ( the oil Stinks) smell.

Great job PTC! Always love a nice contrasting set of timbers. Just a question on execution, do you cut the back off first, then cut out your drawer shape, and then re-attach the back piece? http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/images/icons/icon14.gif
