Not happy with old tool rack so finally decided to make a new one.

Bottom of pipe is angled to allow shavings out.
There is a Lazy Susan fitted to the base.
Put shorter chisels on the bottom row to stop getting stabbed.

Great improvement .
C & C Welcome

Looks like a good idea. I am thinking that you need something to be able to grab it so you can turn it. Less opporunity to grab a sharp piece of steel. 🤔

I have my own version using a lazy susan. My left hand usually rotates the lazy susan somewhere down near the bottom, away from the sharp edges, until the desired tool is immediately in front of me. Right hand then lifts the required tool out. Never been cut when doing it that way, well not yet...:)

I expect that Blackbutt can do something similar with his design.

Nicely made.

I wonder how a 150 or 225mm DWM pipe would go down the middle? As a container for those awkwardly long or big-butted tools that somehow invariably become part of the working kit?

Or would that tend to make it top-heavy? I dislike shelves or worktops near the lathes so I'd either have to store it away from them or build one on a trolley stand.

Hmmm...

Another project for my internal 2DoQ!:D

G'day Christos,
The base is screwed down to prevent moving around.
There is over 500mm from base to chisel tips to grab & turn the base round.
