View Full Version : epoxy resin or polyester??

need to repair a plastic snot 12ft canadian canoe. its got a split in it. I have cloth and bote cote epoxy resin but no polyester resin. can I safely us the bote cote or will I need the other?
most of my boats are wood/epoxy but this is a cheapy I got and I like to keep em on the water
any help?

Crumbs! brit_in_oz is going to track me down to this thread as well!

If by plastic snot, you mean polyester, you'll get a nice reliable fix with epoxy. (The Boat Cote is fine!) Don't try to stick poly to epox though.

If you have a rotomolded polyester canoe though, you'll need to weld it, nuffink will stick really!

Thanks Midge I knew one stuck to the other but forgot which....been a few yrs since I bothered with polyester been a epoxy user for so long :D
now for the fibreglass sanding feeling ....full coveralls and dustmask :eek:
Thankfully there is not a lot to do
