G'day
About 6 months ago I decided to remove a cumquat tree that was a feast to fruitfly every year .I decided the stump looked an interesting shape , so I cut it off close to the ground and roughed it out and buried it in my shavings bin .
A couple of weeks ago, I decided that it had stopped loosing weight, so I finished turning it . For an endgrain bowl , it was suprisingly easy to hollow out .The wood is not very exciting but I think the shape is interesting .There was very little distortion on drying and only minor checking at the base of some of the "petals".Maximum diameter is about 260mm and the finish is DO .
Comments welcome .
