hi, i was wondering where i can find small peices of burl, or large peices at a good price. im looking for roughly 1.5" x 3/4" x 6" to be used as handles on pocket knives that i make. im looking for preferably a store in melbourne or geelong, or one that has good mail order service, or maybe someone has some offcuts they dont need?

thanks, Brett

Hi Brett,

You could try www.woodsmith.com.au (http://www.woodsmith.com.au) or for some really nice burls try Brad's Burls in NSW, www.bradsburls.com.au (http://www.bradsburls.com.au)

I've found it useful to finally make contact with a long-lost distant relative who's very into woodturning.

In my case, they turned up at my house yesterday with a bootload of timber, including about a bucketful of bits of burl. (Thanks Kel!)

Not sure my approach will work for you though:D

Cheers,
Andrew
