Hi,

Just wondering if my latest attempt is to be considered ornamental or not. Or, is that a 'not to be mentioned thing?"

Nice work CanFly!
Without entering into any debate, I say that your work would be really "Artistic" according to Dale Nish.:)

Don't really care what category it's in - you've just changed my opinion of segmented work!:) Very nice indeed! Just out of curiosity (as we won't have it Down-Under), what is the dark colored timber???

The woods used in the piece are Eastern Canadian Maple for the bulk of the work, mahogany for the small squares and the darker thinner pieces, the finial is called Guyana. The finish is Danish oil and wax.

It was interesting work and I have a companion piece underway; all this of course is for SWMBO, she who cooks the meals to keep us turner's fit.
