Hi guys,

I'm having seriously tough time finding out how much these lathes go for in OZ.

Can you help?

Any good suppliers in either Melbourne or Sydney area would be good to know too as I would need to have it shipped over if all goes well.

You would not believe what these things cost here in EU!!!!

Did make a search.....no joy.

Thanks in advance.

Mikko

Great lathe, I love mine.

That is about the right price for it.

Here is the Vicmarc web site but the contact link is broken.

Thanks guys!

I got in touch with Vicmarc...but unfortunately the reply was not the one I was hoping for. Hence looking for a OZ based outlet.

Cheers,
Mikko

Mikko,
Rockola has kindly given you a link to our site.
We have a VL300EVSM in stock here in Carbatec WA. As there is an 8 week turnaround for supply we endeavor to keep at least one in stock. As to freight to your location we would have to contact our freight agency for freight shipping.
Look forward to being of assistance to you.

Recall reading somewhere that shipping a lathe to the US cost about AUD 500.

If you get crate weight and dimensions, and insurance value, to a freight company here they should be able to give you an estimate to your neck of the woods. (Then there may be tax and duty at your end; should be GST free here if shipped o/s.)

Ern's correct

Keep in mind that to be affordable it will come by tall ship and will probably take a couple of months:rolleyes: to arrive. The largish items I have had shipped are always 8 weeks or more.

Good luck

Then there may be tax and duty at your end; should be GST free here if shipped o/s.He's definitely going to be hit by a customs fee (5%? no idea what the customs duty for tools is over there) + 22% VAT on top of the total, including shipping :eek:

Thanks for your concern.
However...shipping with come to EUR250 and will take two months. No probs.

VAT of 22%....need to pay, but as this is for my business, I can have this VAT back in full. No probs there. Duty is 3.5%...which is not a problem really.

The price difference compared to what these go for in EU is still considerable.

One kind EU based dealer has seen my point though and offered relatively nice price....
I do not know how this will end up.

I was considering VB, but in all honesty it is a bit of an overkill for me.
Also, the pricetag is more than double of Vicmarc.

Who needs bowls larger than 60cm in dia?? I sure do not!

The presence on a real bed also tipped the scale. Lately I have become interested in making deeper endgrain vases and hollows. Stedy rests are a huge help here. Try installing one to VB!!!

You've clearly thought it through Mikko.

But have you thought about a Stubby? ... just to be mischievous ;-}

My pleasure Mikko.

Just about to pick up a second-hand S750 myself.

Terrible website; innovative lathe ... want a combination of a VB and a lathe with a bed?

A lot of serious turners down here are buying Stubbies. Also a growing presence in the US market.

A google will throw up some reviews and user reports.

Something to think about ;-}

Ach.....here we go again.
They look absolutely fantastic!!!! :D

This seems to happen every time I'm determined to get some particular piece of equipment......

Big thanks Ern! I'll surely check this one out.

Mikko
