Planning a trip to Tassie and would like to take full advantage of trip. I have searched forum for similar topics and found some info. Perhaps other people have suppliers that they would like to share. Once I have enough info I want to create a little map of Tassie dotted with places to visit. I can post it when its done for anyone that's interested.
Here is what I have found and cut & paste out. If you have others that may be used let me know PM if you like. Just the Name, address or just town, particular timber they may specialise in........
Cockatoo timbers were excellent and amongst the cheapest I found- beautiful myrtle - wet though will need to season<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
LK Davis in Mawbanna-. There are a number of other mills in this area<o:p></o:p>
Tasmanian special timbers in Strahan (great for huon pine) and the mill next door
<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place>Island</st1:place> speciality timbers in Geeveston<o:p></o:p>
There is also a woodturning shop in Ross which sold cheap seasoned blanks<o:p></o:p>

U MUST go the Strahan and checkout the morrsions sawmill on the docks plus the other one on the way out of town to the beach...
also check out the Salamanca markets on staurdays lots of wood available..<o:p></o:p>
if you are after Huon pine the morrison saw mill in Queenstown is pprobably the best and cheapest<o:p></o:p>
if you are on the north coast, for an awesome range of products see Rob Keogh at Britton Timbers. 3 Brittons road Smithton 7330 ph 03 64522566.<o:p></o:p>
if you are down south, about 60 kms south of Hobart in the Huon valley is Geeveston and Forestry Tasmania have an outlet Called Island Specialty Timbers.(Cemetry rd Geeveston 7116) ph 03 62971479.<o:p></o:p>
Don't miss the <st1:place><st1:PlaceType>State</st1:PlaceType> <st1:PlaceType>Forest</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> salvage yard in Strahan

found a place called Enchanted Woods near Geevston.<o:p></o:p>
Bernie Bradshaw's Mill at Lynchford (South of Queentown on Tassies West Coast) where you can buy a Huon Pine stump, sawn huon pine, sawn King Billy, Myrtle, Sassafras, etc, etc.<o:p></o:p>Randy Morrison's Sawmill and Craft shop at Strahan<o:p></o:p>
