acrylic solvent?

Hi all you budding chemist/wood turners,

Apparently methyl methacrylate will melt acrylic and its lesser of a couple of evils that'll do the job

So the question is where would be a likely place to pick up some of this? :confused:

I went to WallyWorld today to pick up some soap and denatured alcohol. I needed a half-gallon of dna and they only had quarts. I picked up two cans and checked out. The cashier stopped, and said, "Limit one unit per customer", indicating the dna. I griped, didn't have time to wait til tomorrow. Asked for the manager. He was adamant about me not getting two. Wouldn't listen to reason. Then watched me like a hawk, so I couldn't even take the other one to another cash register.
So, I did the next best thing. Called one of my fire dept amigos to come and purchase one for me.
How dumb! If they sold gallons, I could have gotten one of them, but they only sell quarts. Federal Government, I suppose.
Hope you don't fall into some of those rules when you purchase your methyl-ethyl-death, Hughie. :o

Look under 'laboratory Equipment &/or Supplies ' in phone book and you will find someone who can help you . I spent all my working life in laboratories but now that I have retired to concentrate on more important things like woodturning I no longer have access to chemical catalogues but I suspect any supplier who is an agent to Ajax Chemicals could help you .
