hi all
a friend asked if i could make a small box to hold a lock of hair from his baby's first haircut.most of the box is made using the router. the lid is a sliding dovetail. made from blackbean, the edges are softened so its nice to handle. the size is 80x80x42. one to pass down over the years.

Wardy,

Great craftsmanship, many will agree that it is sometimes more difficult to make a minature than a large style box, you suceeded, well done!

A small gem of a box. I was thinking about our craft today, and came to the conclusion that work such as yours should be valued as highly as a jewel. Not only have your hands worked a piece of nature into something beautiful to hold and to behold, but that works to keep a family's precious treasure.

thanks zen & tony, the comments coming from craftsman like yourselves make me feel very humbled.we do our craft for our own pleasure and creativeness but it makes it all worthwhile to see someones face light up when they receive what you have made.

What a beautiful box for such a special purpose - the new caretakers will be proud of it.
