I have a Hitachi TR12 permanently mounter under a Triton router table for safety: not a problem. But I needed a portable to use hand held: bought a Skil 1400w with 6mm collett.

The hole in the base is two big and i think it needs an insert of some description to mske the machine sit more comfortably on the work being machined.

I don't know if Shil have a supplier in the north of sydney/ central coast/ newcastle region or can anybody suggest an alternative method.

Thanking you.

If the base plate is a simple affair you may be best making one for your self. It is common practise to make special purpose baseplates to suit yor needs.
the material chosen depends on how long the base plate needs to last and how accurate is needed.
There are a number of aftermarket universal baseplates available made of various plastics some with funky features
Rember plastics machine very nicely with wood working gear. but make sure your tools are sharp and the job is very well secured.
Plastic grabs & chips more readily than wood.
