segmented turning and press

this is my first postIved the site for awhile .I have picked up a lot of good ideas from all the posts that have submitted and the info has been of great asssitance so i am attaching some photos of my last turning and a press I made for pressing the rings together.Press is 1800mm high 600mm wide and cost$60 .Bowl 250mm high 250mm round tassie oak and rosewood.Vase 500mm high 250mm round 436 pieces light red ceder all turned on mc1100 vase supported by 3 point steady when turning

Let me guess... you loved jigsaws as a kid? :D Good job!

As a matter of curiosity, do you hold the rings in ribbon-clamps while pressing? Or do you glue/thickness the rings seperately and only use the press for building up the form from completed rings? I imagine it'd be the latter, but everyone has different ways of making the world go 'round...

brilliant, great work. i'm gonna have a go at segmented work soon and you just gave me some ideas ( which i will simplify quite a bit)

skew I use hose clamps to hold the rings together after gluing most times I have 2 small hose clamps together to get a larger size range and use the press to flatten the rings and then to build up bowl etc a lot of trial and error
