i have a little GMC woodlathe and was wondering are the threds on all lathes the same or are they diferent?


can i buy any chuck (and have it fit) or do i have to keep buying GMC products (none of them are accurate):confused:

Yep! most lathes are different.......................:( But you can buy various inserts to adapt all sorts of chucks to all sorts of lathes
Places like Carbatec, Hare&Forbes, McJing etc or any good wood turning suppliers. Failing that, the supplier of your new chuck will most likely have adapters

There are quite a few "standard" common threads on wood lathes.
The Teknatool chucks have a threaded insert so that they can be used on different lathes, just by purchasing a $20 insert which is threaded to match the lathe.
