Im part of an online scrollers group who are mainly from the US. You often hear them going on about a material called Corian that is apparently good to work with on the scrollsaw, providing you use the right blade. As best I can work out its a sort of ceramic tile or something like that. I have had a quick look around the net but havent found anyone who supplies it in Australia.
Does anyone know of a supplier in Australia? what would be the going price for something like this? and is it good to scroll with?

Corian is a Du Pont product, most kitchen fabricators use it,it can be bent to form coves,etc under heat.
Trouble with it is price prohibitive,and to router successfully,you need a near new router, which does not have any bearing float whatsoever in it ,other wise you are wasting your time.
Main use is for bench tops.
Dont know how it would go for scrolling,as it is usually sold in sheet form.
Worked for Du Pont for nine + years and this product was really well supported by them ,they used to have installation seminars,
and once you attended these and passed all their crtiteria you could call yourself a certified installer,not many kitchen installers ,however did meet their criteria.
Don,t know what the price now is per square metre ,but it was pretty expensive when I was working for them.
You should be able to buy it from any reputable kitchen manufacturer/installer.

Oges Ive had no luck finding it here and really would like to obtain some too I originally thought it was made from unobtainium but have since been told to ask for offcuts but to do that I need to find users:(

I have used Corian on the lathe for pen making and it comes up a treat.
The big problem is getting supplies. Even offcuts are hard to come by as the kitchen people wastes as little as possible because of the cost.:)

Corian can be cut OK on a scroll saw. The manufacturers will only supply it to 'authorised customers' who have undergone training in using it. The only place I've known any one else to be able to get it is offcuts from kitchen/bathroom fitters, and it's pretty scarce because of its price.
