Nice timber and nice job Sam:D .
Certainly better than my first bowl - similar size, but the base was heaps thick because I used a base plate with huge screws:eek: . Could only turn the inside until I hit them:o

Great start Simo'.:) Picking a piece with a knot would have added to the degree of difficulty too - can only get better!:D

Sam, that is a fine looking first bowl. Now that you are properly 'hooked', we expect to see more...

Thank you all, it is great to get feed back.
I started out not too sure of the turning but have got the bug now and look forward each week when I am at home to attend the local wood club. Their advice and assistance is terrific.
Russell (Ashore) while they still offer money I will take it
Soon I will have to make a lazy susan for the wife she has been asking for ages

Sam, get that lazy susan finished so you can get back to the lathe. :o)
Nice first one, Mate. The knot sets it off. Good work.
