Dear All
I went up to my shed last night and turned the light on. There was a visitor flying around. It was tiny~about 8cm long. He stayed for the entire time I was in the shed but was gone this morning.
These little micro bats are common but you rarely see them.

He is really sweet - have recently seen micro bat box patterns - you make them and hang them in the garden for nesting places. These little guys like to live under the bark on trees, as more big trees disappear, so too do their habitats. They are suppose to be dynamite on insects.

You were very lucky to get 'up close and personal' :D

Sure beats the critters I had in my "old shed", I seemed to breed big black cockroaches and blue tongue lizards who ate them!

Have now got my shed complex built, but our business has taken over the nice new double garage. I have managed to get 2 3mtr x 3 mtr garden sheds up on a slab, so am presently trying to fit all my stuff and my dads stuff into them.
My dad is in his 80's he spent 50 years as an upholsterer and cabinet maker specialising in antiques, when he had to move into a smaller unit with no shed my brother-in-law was throwing out everything including some specialist tools he handmade because he couldn't find them to buy. I managed to save quite a few before they went to the dump

Bats are good critters to have around. Probably eat more mosquitos than any other mammal. Good shot.... pic... I mean.

It sure as hell beats a cane toad. Then again so do the green tree frogs that are now starting to hang around at home.

I liked the pic but could not see much of its face when I took it. I also took a couple of frames with my medium format camera and hope thay are better. Won't know until I get them developed.-the disadvantage of film vs the immense quality improvement with medium format.

Better than being in your belfry, Terry ....

They are fascinating little creatures though - I have often seen them flitting by in the bush at night, and recently I was staying with a cousin outside of Richmond, NSW, lying reading in bed in their "guest house" (shack out the back) when I was visited by four or five, who silently whizzed around checking me out then returned to their roost in the roof space through a tiny gap in the corner of the ceiling. And I wasn't bothered by any mozzies, that night!
