Hi all,

I guess everyone knew it could be done, but what's the point?
I needed to prepare through tenon joints for a Shaker influenced table and needed to do it through 60x60 squares. This presented an issue to my simple mind and so I decided I would use the Domino. The mortises are 64x30mm. I used the third cutting width and a 10mm cutter set to 28mm cutting depth. Measured up to where I wanted to be, added 16mm then a further 32mm and marked both as centres for cutting. Then cut the first and second sides and then used a drill, chisel and Dremel to remove the remaining detritus. I have already learned some tricks to make things easier in future. The pics below show the unfinished mortise and a tenon semi fitted. Again this is not finished yet, but should look neat and have sufficient room at top and bottom to accomodate wedges. The timber is redgum, the wedges will be Jarrah.

Regards,

Rob

Indeed. Good lateral thinking, but in this instance Rocker's jig rules!
