OWWM is a very good site, particularly if you are interested in an older piece of equipment. In addition to the forum, there are pictures of machines, many old manuals for equipment and a spot to buy/sell equipment.

I love OWWM. Old manuals are sometimes your only clue about how to repair something. Also, sometimes answer your question, "What the heck is this thing for?"

Another good resource is the US Patent Office database, if the tool has patent numbers listed. (http://www.uspto.gov/patft/index.html) The patent drawings sometimes have enough detail to advise disassembly and repair. You'll need to download a plugin to view images, or any text for patents before 1976 (+/-). The website provides guidance for that.
