This came up in an earlier post, so I thought I'd share this tip.
If you need to cut a thread into a hole, a simple way is to find a bolt of the thread required. Using an angle grinder, cut two slots into the threaded section (on opposite sides), running lengthwise of the bolt. If you cut slightly at an angle you should have a reasonable cutting edge. Cut the thread into the wood in the usual way. Not the best solution, but ok for one off's.
