I did my first woodturning today!

I have a SuperCheapaNasty lathe, $26 worth of chisels from the same place, and a piece of wood that now looks nearly like a sort of carvers mallet, with a handle that's too short.

I've learned "Rub the bevel" and "Rub the bevel doesn't work if the chisel isn't sharp", but would welcome other hints/tips/suggestions & advice.

Cheers,
Andrew

It is not supposed to good the firat time. Keep at. It and it will go better and be more fun as you practise.
My best advice is "find a local woodturning club and join them"
My turning didn't improve untill I got all the advice and "show how" from club members.
We travel a lot so now I belong to 3 clubs.
I still have a lot to learn.

Check out

Also look for the video clips from the home page.

If you feel you're getting hooked, take some lessons and join a club - that will supercharge your learning curve!
