Well after three bouts of gout, visit from mother-in-law :C, Christmas, a bout of the flue, this one finally got finished. The platter is 370mm diameter, 5mm thick and stands 50mm high. Thought it might be a bit different using an odd number of segments just for a change. The inner part is red cedar from a very old tree estimated to be over two hundred years old. Don't panic, the tree fell naturally and the pieces were acquired from the stump. The lighter coloured timber is white beech, and the rim is black bean. The first photo is of the top and the second shows the underneath side.

Absolutely stunning Jim.

I you don't mind me asking, what finish did you use?

Don't mind in the least. Three coats of sanding sealer rubbed on with a cloth. Cut back with 600# wet and dry paper (wet) with a touch of soap. Three coats (sprayed) of lacquer, cut back with 600# wet and dry (wet) again with a touch of soap, between each coat. Final restoration was with a EEE cutting compound. I used 600# wet and dry because thats all I had... :D

well done , fantastic work
what sort of glue do you use ? ,
