I got my new lathe last week and I got a chance to break it in this weekend.

Heres a couple of pics, the first one is large Box Elder burl Hollow Form. The second one is the same hollow form and another smaller one that I gave to my mom for her birthday, both Box Elder wood, and the 3rd one is a bowl I started about a month ago and finally got a chance to finish it.

The finish on all of them is a couple coats of thinned BLO, polished with white diamond and buffed with carnauba wax

Comment/critiques always welcome.

Thanks,
Shane

nice but hate to hit those edges spinning on the lathe could be a bit deadly on the knuckles

Thanks TTIT ... Yes I do my own pics, another one of my many hobbies. www.shanewhitlock.com
The new lathe is a Jet 1642. I love my old Walker Turner, seen in the background of the pic, but it just wasn't big enough so I got the Jet with a supernova2 chuck and a couple of Oneway bowl steadys. It works Great :U

Thanks Willy, I used foil back tape, good strong stuff, and taped over the crack. It took me several hours to hollow it out and I was stressed the whole time that the top was going to come flying off. Luckily it held together. :U

It has more character than Wild Dingo.

(And probably caused as much trouble on the lathe. :D)
