Glass table - finished

Good day

So, why I'm posting it here?, because I think that the woman is the one that "beautifies" the house (you leave it to me and it will look like my shed) so, as a respect to all the girls in the forum, I post it here.

On the white cardboard, my wife arranged here dried flowers that she picked-up on the Gilboah Mountain in Israel and on that, we put a 6mm glass.

As you know from the bible, Jonathan was killed on the Gilboah and David (at that time still not a king), cursed the mountain "No more rain and no more due on you" (simple translation from Hebrew).

NiKi ..I have followed this through with interest, and I was not disappointed .....you did a great job mate :2tsup: , in fact I showed the darling wife from step one what you did and she said ..."make me one":doh: ....so I have a piece of mirror in my shed just waiting for an excuse to be used .....so I might copy your idea and use that ....in an imaginative way ..great job mate :2tsup:

Thank you so much for your compliments...
They go to my wife this time...the top is just normal 45° frame (that after 12 years in the hobby, it's about time to know how to make it), but the idea is more important in this case.

Niki, in one picture you have water to wet the glue area - what is that for, please?

Hi Soth

The Polyurethane glue is activated and cured by using the water (humidity) contained in the wood.
If the wood is too dry (8~10% humidity) there is no enough water to activate the glue and we must add water to the gluing area with dump cloth or a spray (I use dump cloth).

Polyurethane glue is not only stronger but after curing, it's water proof (good for outdoor furniture), chemicals proof and totally non-toxic. It also has longer "Open time" (The time that you can still move the parts) normally the yellow glue has 10 minutes open time but the one that I'm using has 30 minutes open time that is good for large or complicated glue-up.
The down-side is, the long "clamping time" of 3~4 hours and it stains the hands if you leave it too long time on your fingers. That's the reason of the "Nitro" bottle (the cheapest Nitro-thinner used to clean brushes), I clean my hands every few minutes and no stains.
