The following is taken from our Woodworkers Calendar 1998 and will explain The Tribe as mentioned in the Update on VIC WOOD post

WHAT ARE WE?
Almost all readers of this Calendar are Woodworkers. It may be your trade or your hobby. You may be a woodturner, a cabinet maker, a woodcarver, whatever.

Most of us meet with others of like minded spirit and interests, yet we are not a family. A blood test will soon confirm this, besides we don't all have the same jeans. (I wear Levi’s how about you?)

You may be a member of a club or association but we are not all members of the same one. Therefore we are not a club.

We are not a brotherhood. The sisters saw to that. We are not a clan, although many woodturners do wear some pretty funny looking headgear.

We are a simple social group who are bonded by common interests, language, characteristics, and a sense of family. What are we? WE ARE A TRIBE!

Inspired by Kevin Davidson Sept 97

Something similar to this was delivered in a speech by Kevin to honour one of our venerated Tribal Elders, Vic Wood during a presentation night at Turn Around Down Under 1997
