Had a look at OGTY (Al) and Skew's tool holders in "Extra Large Hand Wheel" thread. I thought I would show my version which does'nt need moving from the bed, gets in the way or gets clogged up with crap when turning.
The body is made of scrap 19mm ply and 50mm poly pipe.
The support is a used pivoting TV/Computer monitor wall bracket which are cheap to buy.
As can be seen, the holder can be pivoted to suit turner's reach and position.
The only trouble is that you would need a suitable close wall or similar for the mounting. A bracket could be fabricated to attach to your lathe also.

Very nice setup, Jeff; especially with more than just the chisels. I guess it could also be used atop a post on wheels. (Wouldn't need the monitor swing arm) Good location for your lamp, too.

Nice set up!
I have a wall directly behind the lathe with a shelf that holds the all the tools. It works pretty well but I have to reach over the lathe to get to stuff and this can be a bit of a safety issue. :((

I guess I will be looking for an old telly bracket now.
Yet another great idea stolen by Wayne!:o

Thanks for sharing!

That's a good design Jeff.
I have a chest of draws / workstation on castors, with a spot for the chisels. It works for me, cause I can drag it to wherever I am working, but I am certainly open to suggestions, and that is a good one!:2tsup:

Thanks for showing..

I love the idea, but it's not portable enough for me. :(

Still, I am wondering whether SWMBO really needs the arm currently holding the telly... :innocent:

Handy contraption you have there. Every time I am in my Dentist chair, all reclined and resting with my feet in the air and my head upside down, mouth a gap with with 4 sets of fingers crammed in and a few powertools to boot.... I gaze with lust for that Luxerous device that holds his tools and a lamp and all the gismos within reach and so simple to operate. Yours is a close second to what I invisioned creating should I ever get the notion. Thanks for the posting.
