Evening Gentlemen

Here's my version of a ball cutter. See pics. The cutting tool is a half inch round HSS bar ground to a fingernail tip and also ground flat across the top. This tool shear cuts at 45 degrees with the bevel rubbing (not a scraping cut) as you would with a spindle gouge. This gives a very clean cut, you can start sanding at 180-240. The ball in the chuck is as cut and not sanded.

Looks very smicko there Fredo, can we get a close up of the tip looking at it straight on or from above

Ditto to DJ's request - can't quite work out how you have the bevel rubbing from the pics. Very professional looking job Fredo :2tsup:

Ditto again! Thanks for the extra pics Fredo. Very well thought out, particularly the cutting tool - if I ever decide to make a pile of balls I will be copying your rig for sure :2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:

Extremely well done, Fredo. The second bar looks like it could function as a follower. Do you use it for other pattern work too?

Fredo well done.
I thought I saw a similar set up before and remembered the one Enzo (Vermec) manufactures. See www.vermec.com
