Hi All,

I am in the market for a Planer/Thicknesser Combo, I have read all the posts about the PT-260 and the ML-392, and they seem like good units.

I want a unit that will last me as long as possible, is there anything else under the $3000 mark that people would recommend?? I have noticed timbecon have a ML-393 has anybody seen/used one? Oh, a 12" combo is prefered.

Thanks

Joe

Joe,

I have an ML-392 and am quite happy with it.

The good things:
Solid tables
Tables were set up correctly parallel off the shop floor - Carbatec
Plenty of grunt
3 blade cutter head - does a nice cut
Quick to change from planer to thicknesser
No-volt switch

The not so good things

Manual doesn't tell you much - it's more a parts list
The fence is pretty flimsy

I needed a jointer/thicknesser rather than separate machines because of space considerations

I purchased the Makita unit about 3 yrs ago. It is a terrific unit and am very happy with it. To my knowledge there is only one unit available from Makita as a combo unit. 312 mm thicknesser/150mm Jointer. Paid approx $2200
Hope this helps you.
Regards Sandman. ;)
