Skittles I did a search for and found only one item in reference
http://www.woodworkforums.com/showthread.php?t=5729&highlight=skittles

I'd like when I get my lathe back to make a quality set for my grandson (he's just 4 months) an heirloom set boxed of course. I am going to make a small set up out of pine, i want to make a set that he can use for a few years and maybe keep for his kids.

any ideas other than pine to make these from good aussie timber would be nice.

Ty in advance

Ray

I'd look at making 'em from KDHW. (Tassie Oak)

Hard-wearing, cheap, takes a lick o' paint well or looks good with a timber finish. :2tsup:

Don't know about your local Bunnings, but ours stocks KD Hardwood as does the local Home Hardware, they 19, 35 and 45mm thick by various widths.

Go into Bunnies, Mitre10 or yer local chippie's supply.

Ask 'em to point you at the KDHW... it's usually the stuff under shelter in the yard full of builder's utes. (Which is often the same as the hardwoods on the shelves inside, 'cept in bigger pieces at lower prices...)

Did you see the other designs? I love the English Bobbies and the sailors sets. Really clever.
